Ladies and gentlemen, I have finally stepped up my cell phone game and purchased the new Palm Pre.
I love it so far. Hopefully I don't get addicted to the phone, because I can do so much on it.
This is a huge step up from the LG EnV that I owned for two years prior.
You couldn't tell me a thing when I first got my EnV. I thought I was the s**t just because it was orange!
I had no extra features on that phone. As a matter of fact, I thought I was ballin' when I upgraded to an unlimited text package!
The good thing about having the Palm Pre is it is the first time that I have had a phone with Internet capability (this will work out well since I have a new techno-crush on Facebook!).
Surprisingly, I am paying about $40 less a month for this phone plan and I get sooooooo much more than I previously had. Someone PLEASE explain that to me.
PROS on the phone: Easy to navigate, nice sounding speaker phone, awesome display, the Palm Pre OS is cool too.
CONS on the phone: Small QWERTY keyboard, does not video record (yet), a little bulky because of the slide out keyboard, no expansion slot (but it has 8GB of internal memory).
All in all, I am impressed with the phone. I will keep you guys posted on my progress with it.

I got my Jada Pinkett-Smith on this weekend when I babysat my boyfriends kids that he shares with his ex-boyfriend.
There was once a time when I shuddered at the idea of even being in the same room as children.
Well, not so much being the same room as them, but being in a room that contained my things! hahaha
All of that has changed though. In part, because of TallT's nephews (the kids his ex adopted when they were together).
I have had the opportunity to watch them grow up and develop their own personalities.
Loving the kids has been the easy part.
I was, at one time, concerned about ever liking TallT's ex. Though I am still not his biggest fan, I feel like I have reached a new level of understanding which allows me to enjoy his company.
When he dropped the kids off I actually invited him in and asked him to stay for the breakfast that I was preparing for the kids. (I KNOW!!!! ME! I, too, was very shocked!) TallT was at work and it gave the two of us an opportunity to chop it up for a second.
Something clicked in me and I realized that if this situation even has an chance of working it is going to require the adults to get it together... if for nothing else, for the kids that we all love.

Every relationship has its fair share of what I call "Quick Kisses and Fast Food" phases.
You know what I am talking about. The point in a relationship when you kiss each other hello and goodbye, but your feet are still moving. The point when you no longer go to sleep together. The point when you don't eat together regularly (but might stop on the way home and bring the other person fast food because you care).
This only happens to people who live with each other.
I understand it, to a degree. Space is important. We all need it.
But don't get it twisted. Intimacy is important as well.
I guess BALANCE is the hard part.
For me, being in love used to give me wings. I felt like I could fly because of it.
Tonight when I go home, I am going to cook the bomb meal (I already have the chicken defrosted in the refrigerator) for dinner. When I see my man walk through the door, I am going to stop everything I am doing, walk right over to him and kiss him from my soul.
I can only do my part.
Perhaps this will be the re-introduction to the "Lingering Kisses and Home-Cooked Meals" phase we were once in! LOL

Man down!!!!! I ran into the pool to save my two year old nephew this weekend from drowning. Noble, right? Well, my cell phone was in the pocket of my swim trunks! Note to self: Water and electronics don't mix! New Palm Pre on order... have to wait a week! What am I going to do with no phone?!!!
"If You Love Me"- Brownstone
I was talking to TallT's mother today and she is going through some tough times in a relationship.
Throughout our conversation I learned of a very complex relationship of hers that lasted 8 years.
She is feeling pain because she feels that her boyfriend never put her in front of others in his life... even after being together so long.
It made me think about how easy it is to spout out those words, "I love you" day after day. With each day, if no action goes along with the words, don't they only become habit/obligatory instead a firm declaration?
It made me wonder why people get into relationships if they are not ready to really put in the work for them? (I have loved three men in my life (2 ex's and TallT). Of the two relationships that did not work out, I left with the satisfaction of knowing that I gave all of the love I had to give to each of them and I showed it. I took no regrets with me... only the experiences.)
It also made me wonder why people say "I love you" without really putting in the work to make it mean anything.
We listen to love songs, watch movies, know how we want to treated but don't always give what another needs.
When in a relationship, I show love by doing a a variety of things:
I am not going to lie... sometimes in love I come on strong, but love IS such a strong emotion. Hell, no one ever said that love is comfortable, but I do believe that it is fulfilling. Besides, I only come on strong when things are out of whack in the relationship... which is going to happen from time to time in every relationship.

Today just started off right.
I got up and knew I was not going to be stressed or bothered by much.
Don't know. Just had the feeling.
I used to feel this way all of the time. Like this was my norm. Happy-go-lucky.
Anyways, I have been moving through this day with such ease and I know that it is because I have kept a smile on my face.
I have things on my mind, but I have put them to the side today just to see if I had the power to make this day into what I wanted.
It really works. A little positive energy and determination is all it takes.
I could be upset because I am broke as a joke (my mother clowned on me hard yesterday and said, "You went from riches to rags!" hahaha), am not getting the new cell phone I have been talking about for awhile in any foreseeable future, am bound by contract to stay in a certain position at work, and a whole slew of other reasons...
But not today.
I feel good.
LAS VEGAS!!!
I moved a lot as a child and in my early adult life.
A little over a year after high school I joined the military and with that, came the opportunity to see the world over a 6 year period.
Throughout that 6 years, whenever it seemed like problems with work, relationships, friends or just the fact that I grew tired of my surroundings, military orders would show up and I would be off to somewhere else.
Well, after I got out of the military I came to Las Vegas with the sole purpose of finishing up my degree at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
I graduated exactly a year ago and a lot has changed. Unfortunately, Las Vegas is still the same.
The truth of the matter is, what was once great fun can still be fun but is getting stale. Vegas, for me, in my 20s was great, even though I stayed in the house a lot with my then-boyfriend. It was an exciting city. Now that I am 31, I am looking at my life a little differently. I want to settle somewhere and I am not sure Vegas is the place.
Don't get me wrong. I am not packing away my dancing shoes, but I know that in a few years, I am not even going to be impressed with going out until ALL HOURS of the night and drinking until I can't drink any more.
I am at a point where I am thinking about the next move. Stay tuned.
BeBe & CeCe Winans: Relationships
Everyone knows that I love a well executed concept album, right? Well, let me tell you... there aren't many better than BeBe and CeCe Winans' Relationships. Though the content may not be everyone's cup of tea, once you listen to the lyrics of any song on this cd one will immediately recognize the importance of connection to another... whether it be a connection to God, a family member, friend or even a lover. My personal favorites are " Count It All Joy," "Love Of My Life," "These What Abouts," and "If Anything Ever Happened To You." (*****)
E. Lynn Harris: Basketball Jones
Definitely not my favorite E. Lynn Harris book, but any outing of his will be well received by me. Basketball Jones follows a man who is in a secret relationship with a high profile NBA basketball player. It chronicles his experiences, other relationships and the life decisions he has to make while always being available for this relationship. The best thing about an E. Lynn Harris book is that even though he is constantly introducing new characters, within the pages of his books the reader will get a glimpse at what is going on with characters from earlier books because they make guest appearances. Definitely support E. Lynn Harris' Basketball Jones. Though the storyline is not his best, his writing and character develelopment of the main character is flawless as usual. (****)
